PAEDIATRIC EMERGENCY FIRST AID

This course specialises in teaching you how to apply emergency first aid to a child, perfect for parents or people who work with children.

A paediatric emergency is any condition that requires immediate medical attention in a child. Whether it’s an illness, injury or a high fever – it must be taken care of immediately. This first aid emergency course is designed to provide parents or people who work with children with the knowledge and skills required to respond and manage a paediatric emergency. You wil learn how to manage paediatric emergency situations including choking, treating shock and responding to burnt.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The aim of this course is to give you the skills and knowledge required to manage a paediatric emergency. The course will show you how to deal with paediatric emergency and give you the confidence to deal with these situations should they arise in practice. The course will help learners identify and manage common paediatric emergency for a variety of children's locations including homes, schools and health care facilities.

Competency-based training with no formal examination.

The certificate will remain valid for 36 months Courses can be booked in house or booked a place on one of our open courses.

Candidates should demonstrate their competence to:

• To be able to treat a patient that is;

1. is unresponsive and breathing
2. is unresponsive and not breathing, including:
3. the chain of survival
4. the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a child
5. is choking
6. is bleeding
7. is suffering from shock
8. is burnt or has a scald
9. has a medical emergency, including seizures
